A beautifully atmospheric mid-19th century watercolour by listed British landscape painter Cornelius Pearson, depicting the tranquil Mawddach Estuary near Dolgellau in North Wales.

Artist Biography

Cornelius Pearson was a British landscape painter and watercolourist born in Manchester in 1805. He became particularly known for his atmospheric depictions of the English Lake District and North Wales, often painting mountainous scenery, lakes and estuaries with remarkable delicacy and light.

Pearson exhibited widely during the 19th century, including at the Royal Academy, the British Institution and other major provincial exhibitions. His works are represented in public collections, and he remains regarded as an accomplished Victorian landscape painter whose works are sought after for their peaceful rural character and refined technique.
