A beautifully decorative vintage gilded plaster bust after Jean-Antoine Houdon’s celebrated portrait of Louise Brongniart, one of the most iconic child sculptures of the French Neoclassical period.
The original marble bust was sculpted by Jean-Antoine Houdon in 1777, depicting five-year-old Louise Brongniart, daughter of the architect Alexandre-Théodore Brongniart. This faithful reproduction captures the gentle expression and refined modelling that have made the original a masterpiece of 18th-century French sculpture.
Finished in a warm antique gilt patina, the bust has an elegant classical presence and makes a striking decorative statement. Perfect for traditional, French country, grand millennial or contemporary interiors, it looks equally at home displayed on a console table, mantelpiece, bookcase or pedestal.
