WENCESLAUS HOLLAR (1607-1677) AFTER ANTHONY VAN DYCK (1599-1641)
Henrietta Maria, Queen of England
etching, 1641, on laid paper with an indistinct Words watermark, a very good impression. Label on reverse states ‘only state’ but there are now two states known. This is the first state.

From the collection of George Armstrong Cardew. Collection stamp to verso of print.

Plate 155 x 118 mm.

This print is rare and existing examples are in the collections of Buckingham Place, The National Portrait Gallery, The British Museum, Princeton University and very few more important collections.

Beautifully framed and presented. A real statement piece which is almost 400 years old.

Henrietta Maria was Queen to Charles 1st. She was exiled to France after his execution. The etching was copied from the painting by Sir Anthony Van Dyck.

This is a real statement piece of art and a real talking point.
