This exquisite etching with aquatint and plate tone by Michael Canney, created in 1947, features a striking rhinoceros design and measures 14.5 cm in height and 21 cm in length.

It is elegantly presented in a cream deep set mount and housed within a stunning black and silver heavy frame, resulting in an overall size of 20 x 16 inches.

Following Canney's passing in 1999, his works have gained significant attention and desirability, reflecting his status as a contemporary of notable artists such as Bridget Riley and Mary Quant during his time at Goldsmiths.

His artistic journey included collaboration with renowned sculptor Barbara Hepworth in 1959 and a pivotal role as curator of Newlyn Art Gallery, where he facilitated a visit from the esteemed Mark Rothko.

This piece comes with provenance from Liss Fine Art, having been acquired from Madeleine Canney, presenting a rare opportunity to own a significant work by this distinguished artist.
