An exceptional early 19th-century minor dental surgery and surgical instrument set housed in its original Morocco leather covered case with rich crimson velvet interior. Hidden behind the silk-lined lid is the original mirror, a desirable feature found on higher-quality medical sets of the period.
The set retains a wonderful selection of finely crafted steel instruments with decorative spiral handles together with its original carved mother-of-pearl handle. Instruments include a variety of dental and minor surgical blades, probes, lancets and other interchangeable fittings used by physicians and dentists during the Georgian period.
The case shows honest wear consistent with over 200 years of age, adding to its authenticity and charm. The silk lining exhibits age-related wear and fraying, while the instruments retain an attractive aged patina.
